Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

To receive a cosmetology make-up, cosmetology, barbering, cosmetology / barbering, and esthetics license in the state of California a student must:

1. Complete a cosmetology make-up, cosmetology, barbering, cosmetology / barbering, and esthetics course in a school approved by the California State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology
2. Submit an application and required fee
3. Have a least a 10th grade education or its equivalent and is at least 17 years of age
4. Must receive a passing score on the written test

**The Make-Up program is not licensed or regulated by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
